Fall Vacation

The day after Robin's birthday, we escaped for a fall getaway back to our timeshare in Avon.  Before leaving, however, I helped Robin build some of his new legos

Paying a visit to Avon's park

Grammy came to spend a few days with us, just like Ama did in May.  So Grammy got to be there for the second cake on Robin's actual birthday

.

He got to open a few presents on his actual birthday, too

We went for a walk with Grammy along the Eagle River

Our happy crew

Robin loves to climb

It started snowing one evening while we were up there, and Grammy volunteered to stay with the boys while Dean and I went to the hot tub.  So we sat in the hot tub in the snow!  It was fun until we had to leave--we hadn't thought about appropriate footwear!

We built a fort out of couch cushions

And then we went for a walk in the snow.  (This was the first snow of the season)

What's Robin done with his hat??

I think Robin is throwing a snowball at Dean in this one

Another cushion fort.  This one was supposed to be an RV

We took advantage of the fire pit to roast S'mores

Yum!

Since it was almost Halloween, we decided to visit a haunted house put on up there, upstairs in a restaurant.  They told us on the phone that the "kid-friendly" tours started early in the evening.  Since our kids were so small, they took us through separately, so the spooks could be their tamest.  We told Robin we would go through a haunted house, just like the Scooby gang.  He clung to Dean through the whole thing regardless, but it was fun to do.  Liam didn't give a hoot either way.  He just wanted to bat at the spiders hanging from the ceiling.

As usual, we stopped in Vail on our way home.  Getting a picture of the boys at this spot has become a tradition

As has visiting the Pirate Ship Playground!  (We didn't get to stay very long because of the cold, though)

Sea serpent!

Sorry Liam, you can't steer the ship until you're big enough to see over the wheel

That goes for Robin too.  (You'll note that Dean brought along his eye patch from Robin's birthday party)

Until next time!
