We had a full and busy 4th. We started with a bbq at Dean's parents, followed by a trip to the park with friends.
This park typically has TONS of activities for the 4th. Fireworks at this location were cancelled due to the fire danger, but we were told that the rest of the festivities would proceed as planned.
They were drastically pared down, however. Most notably, no duck race. No helicopter landing. No games. Dang. The train was still running though!
The petting zoo was still open, too
.
The petting zoo had a pretend cow that the kids could milk
They did, at least, have bouncy castles
Whee!
Arrr! Pirate Bounce House!

Next was a visit to the nearby splash park, because it was H-O-T!
Liam absolutely LOVED it!

Mama too!
At last, we went home for dinner and then out to watch fireworks. We weren't in the best spot and were up way too late for little boys (waiting for a display with an uncertain start time) but we still saw some fireworks. And the best part about watching fireworks is sitting on top of the car.
Balancing children on top of a car, of course, doesn't combine well with taking photos of fireworks. Especially when said fireworks are far away. This is my best shot, and it looks like a heart-rate monitor on steroids, or perhaps an avante garde painting. Oh well.
Happy 4th! (Of August. Oh well again.)
