22 Days Old

Robin saw his first snow today! We’re not sure what he made of it, but we enjoyed it. It was snowing pretty heavily at his morning feeding, but we all went back to bed after he’d eaten. When we finally got up and dressed around noon, it was sunny and the only snow left on the ground was in the shade. Welcome to Colorado, Robin!

When he went outside, he wore the star-shaped bunting his Grandma Sue made for him.

He didn’t like his first sponge bath very much.

Maybe he was afraid of the shark washcloth.

We got a surprise visit from Robin’s Great-Aunts Jackie and Kathy the weekend of Halloween! Ah, the beauty of having relatives working for the airlines is the occasional ability to just “drop in,” even when you live in another state.

We took him on his first trip to the park last week. Here he is with Mommy on a swing.

And Daddy took him on the big slide! Whee!

He’s a big boy now! His umbilical cord came off while we watched the election coverage on the 4th (his due date.)

Here’s Dean helping Robin jump on his bed.

He wasn’t terribly fond of his first tub bath, either.

He’s getting stronger! We put him on his tummy today, and he was inching himself around in a circle. He’d moved more than a quarter turn when we pulled him off his stomach because he was a bit upset. He can lift his head up pretty well for brief periods when he’s on his tummy, too.

We were excited this week because he finally got back to his birth weight. It took three weeks. His face is definitely fuller, and I feel like his hands have a bit more padding and aren’t just skin and bone anymore. It’s taken us both a while to get into the rhythm of feedings, but we seem to mostly have the hang of it now. Except that we still need Dean to hold his arms back when he first latches on. He hasn’t figured out yet that he can’t latch when he’s holding his hands in front of his mouth. I’m hoping he gets a bit more coordination in those arms soon, or I’ll have to swaddle him for feedings once Dean goes back to work.

Isn’t our son the cutest???!!!
